What about running unleaded gas in these old tractors? I restored my '64 Galaxie about 5 years ago and when I took the heads in for machine work, they either hardened the valve seats or installed hard seats, I forget which. Said I needed hardened seats to run unleaded gas. The guy I got my 8N from re-built the engine not too long ago, but didn't know if the machine shop hardened the seats. What's the scoop on this?

I was always told that the cars (Flathead V8s) of this vintage (39-53) had stellite seats. They could be removed and replaced if necessary. Was the removable seat on the tractors also stellite? Rich

N Ford tractors came from the factory with hardened seats - so you can run todays regular gas with no problems.

N - joy.
