My 8N lift lifts great when in position control but will not completely lower. It will maintain any position and even holds great when the engine is not running.

In draft mode, it doesn't lift but will lower correctly. If already up in transport mode, it will stay there in draft mode.

Ideas??

What you got is commonly known as "out of whack"

The linkage needs to be adjusted and it will require the cover to be removed to do it right. The fact that the lift will not go all the way down indicates that the lift is not adjusted right and neither is the draft.

See the link below for information on a jig to use in adjustment of the 8N lift

do you need a jig for the 9/2N's as well? The jig keeps coming up in reference to the 8n's but what about the 2n's? Or does the position/draft combo complicate things that much more?

Just wonderin'

Steve,
Try adjusting the quadrant per the FO-4 manual. Loosen the 4 cap screws and move the quadrant towards the rear of the tractor a little bit at a time. There is only about a 3/8" movement in it, if that don't work you might have to pop the lift cover and do the internal adjustments. In draft mode the lift will not start to lift until the handle is within an inch or so from the full up position. If you don't have an FO-4 shop manual get yourself one, you'll be glad ya did. $29 at most fine tractor supply places, and sponsors of this forum.
