I know the guy that bought that tractor new, he only had one eye.
PS And by the way, did you ever have a twin mantel and a single mantel Coleman lantern? The twin doesn't give off twice as much light and it does use twice as much fuel. L8R----Fred OH

is it possible that someone switched one of the dog-ears on the hood, possibly due to damage, and the one they replaced it with didn't have a headlight?

According to the Slezerson and Sleemer's Originality Guide, the light factory made too many right side lights. In 1943, the company hired a worker that was in charge of production numbers and he forgot to tell the assembly line workers to make equal amounts of left lights. So for awhile there was a special on right side lights until left side lights became available again. This gave Ford an idea, and he decided to hire another person responsible for left lights. The right side light guy was promoted to the design shop where he developed the rear worklight for the right fender.

Now that is one funny reply...what an understatment. LOL

If someone ever chronicles these posts into a book, there ought to be a section on N-Series Humor. Seems like the replies tonight are on a run with humor. Must be post holiday syndrome (PHS).

9N'er.I first found this site in Oct. I think it was, I found myself laughing at the posts and trying to absorb way more N-fo than my few braincells could handle. I enjoy the humor, wisdom, and conversation about our hobby, sickness,or whatever it is, immensely. There are some great ones here.

Headlights are not a factory option. Normally, the dealer installed 2 headlights. I have no idea why you have only 1 headlight except some farmers are cheep..... .Dell

I have a 44 2N and it is the same way. My guess it that during the war, they were not that available or people just didn't have the money.
Mine even has a impression in the metal under the light pressed into the metal (factory?) on the right side, but nothing on the laft side.
