According to FO-19 manual, the tube from the back-pressure valve is NOT to be placed near the suction line. Photo below shows what I found when I removed the hydraulic lines from my Jubilee. Yes, that is the back-pressure tube sticking out of the suction port!!

According to manual, there is a clip that is attached to the front, upper bolt in the side-cover plate to hold the tube in the proper position. Since I am missing the clip, I assume the tube should be located to the rear of the boss cast in the bottom of the hydraulic case that holds the system relief valve. Is this correct? Could I make a clip from a strip of light steel, or would I be better off to get a clip (if still available) that would make the location self-explanatory?
Thanks in advance,
EDDIE8N
P.S. It's a wonder that the lift worked at all. This is the o-ring that came off the pressure line at the pump!!

I can see no reason to worry about where the back pressure valve dumps. The only thing that I can imagine that it being directly in the suction hole is if the pump is trying to draw in a small amount of air and it could possibly dump there and multiply the air problem. This is unlikely however since that piston pump will not pump air.

I don't think it would matter actually if you cut the steel line completely off the back pressure valve since all it does is dump oil back into the reservoir anyway other than provide back pressure so the unloading valve operates properly.

You will laugh at this I'm sure but I have in the past fixed a bad back pressure valve by clamping a short piece of rubber hose to the end of the dump tube and then clamping a clothes pin on the end of the rubber hose. Actuall works pretty good!

Neccesity is the mother of invention! Believe it or don't!

Just point the line towards the back.
Nothing critical, Good enough.
It just should not be where it was.
