the other side has two of these 2 inch nuts on it.
how tight should they be? should i have the tractor jacked up to tighten them? will a tigh

If you take that nut off and your hub comes off easy the hub is worn. The hub has a taper to it so when it is pressed on it has some fire power behind it when you knock it off. My neighbors foot found that out! Just wanted you to now if you have to go any farther other then the nut tightening. saftey first!

From what I've read, the nut is supposed to be torqued to 450 ft-lbs, in that case you'd better have the tire on the ground when tightening. Also the loose nut causes the hub to wear which in turn causes the leaking. Again this is not from any personal experience (I haven't attempted fixing mine yet), but just what I've read on this board.

The 2" nut should be tightened to 450 pounds.. I put my biggest brake over bar on it that I had and a 4 foot pipe on it and stood on it..

You might jack up that side and tighten the nut as much as possible, to get the hub drawn back as much as you can. But I would put the weight back on it to try to tighten it down.

If you get the hub tight, there is a good chance you will stop the leak depending on how long the thing was loose.

I'm sure someone here has a better answer than this but this is my 2 worth.
