Will a crack in the manifold keep a 2N from not starting? Does not seem to be getting any gas to the spark plugs.

Hi Ford Fan. From experience, it doesn't take much of a crack to give you starting problems. Also you may be sucking all kinds of things into your engine that you would not want in there. If it was mine, it would be replaced or repaired. Good luck. Ron

It should start and run, power might be a problem, new manifolds dont cost an arm and leg , not that hard to replace, bad studs could cause problems , use brass nuts . Ever try starting fluid at the carb. intake or remove spark plugs and squirt some in there ? You could have water in your gas, that front mount coil is another weak point, good luck .

Depending on the crack actually. If in the intake portion this will allow the fuel mixture to be thinned by "outside air" to the point where the engine is starved for fuel. Generally, however a crack even of this nature will tend to allow the engine to start when cold and will only pose a problem when the engine begins to reach operating temperature. This of course depends on the severity of the crack.

I'd check for fuel delivery to the carburetor (three filters)but if this checks out it's comforting that a new manifold and gasket are available at a very reasonable cost. I'm assuming you have checked for spark.

Regards.
