I had a long winter workin on the N. Rebuilt the steering box, Govenor, Distributor, king pin, pan gaskets, replaced the head, and rewired the whole thing, new resistor block/resistor, resistor, amp meter, coil, new 12 volt battery, oil and gas lines, and paint at least from the dash to the bumper. It is starting right up.

Anyway I didn't want to pay to have it hauled so I hopped on the tractor, the wife hopped in the little Toyota and followed me 17 miles out to our country place. Took about an hour. 4th gear and 3/4's on the gas. I felt like I was rideing on my "high horse". Then again most of the way was black top. When we got there I hooked up the brush hog and did a little cutting. Ran great, and the govenor worked too. I was a little worried on the adjustment but it did a super job.
The tractor is in it's best form since I have had it. It just turned out to be a great day.

Thats a good way to break in the new engine! If I were you I would change the oil and check it over.
Its great to go on rides like that!! I do it all the time. Some time people stop you just to talk and look at the tractor and before you know it a hour goes buy. I pull my Farmall M and logged about 88 miles to the local pulls last summer. I don't have away to haul it yet so I just drive it. The farthest place I go it 11 1/2 miles one way. It takes about 45 min. to get there. You should see the faces on people when they see you flying past Wal-Mart at 1:00 in the morning on the way home!! haha!!

Around here (central Ohio) there are many stories of the old timers who got into "sniffin' the cork" a bit too much and lost their driver's license. The best tractor here for gettin' to town was the Silver King. It had a road gear that could do about 35 mph. No license required.

I was talking to a guy at work about my day and he was telling me about his step father. I guess he had some trouble getting his drivers license because of someone in the family not thinking he should be driving anymore. So he took his money, bought the smallest Kobota with a cab you can get and he drives that a mile and a half to town to go to church and pick up food at the store. I guess he gets the looks when he pulls up to chuch and gets out wearing his Sunday suit.
