I'm planning to purchase new tires for my 2N. It has undergone a thorough rebuild and restoration with only final paint and tires pending. Although I want the authentic look of the single rib 4x19 tire, I plan to use the tractor for mowing. That said, would I be better served with a three rib tire? Also, would a 6x19 fit on the original rim and would that be better yet?

I'd second Dell's suggestion. I have a fairly new set of three rib 16" tires on the 850. If I make any kind of hard turn on the lawn, that middle rib cuts a curve in the turf. Before I had 5 rib tires up front and didn't have that problem. However, I don't think you can get a 5 rib tire to fit a 4 x 19 rim. I could be wrong (it's happened before).

George..... ....for mowing, you might want to consider some 19" knobbies for motorcycles. I'd look for some used ones, they're strong enuff and you won't exceed their speed rating (grin)..... ...Dell

I've got 19" antique car tires on my 2n thinking that they would not dig into the grass, and they look cool. Wrong. You can't get a good mowing job done if you have the narrow 19". If the grass is just a little wet, or if you don't slow way down to almost a crawl in the turns, you will see the turn paths in the lawn. And I'm on a clay mixture base. If I had to do it again, I would go with replacement 16" wheels (look for 1936-39 Ford) with car tires. My $.02

Tim, my '52 8N has 16" three rib fronts and farm lug rears and I am on clay ground. I've also used my '48 with 19" car tires and turf tire rears. I always use my brakes for turns especially on wet grass. It is just a habit after driving these things for 50 years. Reduces scuffing and I don't lose my pto rpms on turns. However, I ain't growing no golfie course, neither so a little tire mark does not bother me.
