"been using an 2"N" to carry stuff around-going to try cutting grass with it this year. Do these need an overrun coupler on the PTO? I don't need any extra boost when I think I'm going to stop.
It's a 46 or 47, three speed, some paint, no smoke, no leaks-runs good.
I hear they run about $75.00. Would be worth it so I don't climb a tree but a waste if I don't.
What's the scoop?
Thanks,
W

Many thanks for the feedback. Will get one tomorrow.
I did some phone shopping and Tractor Supply has them for $93.59--everyone else has them for $50.00 new $25-30 used. Guess where I'm not going to get it.....
Thanks again,
You guys might just have save my life or at least kept me from taking my tractor for a swin in the creek.

yes you need a coupler as the others have said, just make sure to check your shaft size for the female end of the coupler, there is 1 1/8 and 1 3/8.

Willard, I have seen the ORC's on e-bay for $30.00 to 40.00. Definitely buy and use it.

A friend of mine had one and didn't feel the need to take the extra 5 minutes it took to put it on and ended very deep in the creek in front of his house. Need I say more. Get one and put it on. Safe Brush hogging. Ron

With all this talk about these, I'd like to know if I also need one for an 850? They are priced $49 at TSC.

You need one if your tractor does not have live PTO. If you have to depress the clutch to engage PTO, you do not have live PTO and should use an over-runnning clutch. $50 is dirt cheap compared to the damage you can do with a PTO inplement pushing you.

Willard,

Yes, they are ESSENTIAL to use when bushhogging! You WILL end up up a tree, in the creek, through the shed wall, over the cat, etc., if you don't have one! They are often cheaper than $75--I think I've seen them for @$50 at my local farm store. WhatEVER you spend, it'll be worth it.

I would recommend that you use a over run coupler.
