Folks:
I am looking for information on the Ford 2N (1946 model) As I mentioned earlier I have purchased one to replace my Farmall 300 (Getting too feeble to climb the monkey bars and get on the 300).
I have checked several large book stores and the internet for technical manuals or information on the 2N with little or no luck.
When I bought my 300 some years ago I was able to get all sorts of information - technical data - mechanical diagrams - implement information - photos etc. What I can find now barely mentions the 2-N. In fact most of what I have seen goes into detail on the 9-N then hops to the 8-N.
Can anyone tell where where I find manuals or technical data on the 2-N? I am hoping to restore the unit to it's original great condition and use it to cut my grass and shove some snow around.
The tractor is in the shop getting a new set of rings and it's hydraulics rebuilt and should be delivered the end of next week.
Thanks,
Jim

Don't bother with the 2N manuals cause the 9N are exactly the same and will address all your problems.

Jim,
There are so few differences between a 9N and a 2N that many people refer to 9N for both. If it applies to a 9N then it probably applies to a 2N too.

There are some differences between a 9N/2N and an 8N, however the basics are fairly similar.

Are you calling me French? (grin)

Have you heard the French knock knock joke?

Frenchman: Knock Knock.
German: Who's there?
Frenchman: I give up!

Hi Jim,

we've spoken on email a couple of times with you educating me on farmalls. What I do, which I've learned from this board, is to print out all those fabulous "how to" articles on this board. I have a large three ring binder which I add to periodically. Just today a fellow posted a link to a carburater rebuild complete with pictures. That is my next addition to the binder. Good luck with that new machine.

For the most part the 9N is the same tractor as a 2N. Hang around this site for a while and you will see every topic you can imagine come up for discussion.

The archive is chock full of info too, check it out when you have a spare hour or two.

Being an owner of a 1946 2N, let me recomend the following.

The I&T F)-4 manual is an excellent and complete service and repair manual for the 9-2-8N tractors.

The Ford Originality Guide is a hardcover reference as to colors, options, and such of the 9-2-8N tractors. Both of these are avaialble at farm supply stores and the vendors whose links can be found to the left.

I guess I should get that extra lead removed from my finger. Thanks for catching that.
