Mike..... ...as I understand it, the M/S carb airhorn drain packing filter (felt or sinstered bronze) is NLA. (no longer available)

The airhorn drain was/is useful if carb float sticks opens and all that gravity feed gasoline will drain down thru carb bowl and out the jets into the airhorn and if it don't drain, it will actually drain UP the intake manifold thru open intake valves into cylinders and can cause expensive "HYDRAULIC-LOCK" when you hit the starter button, bending things like piston rods.

This is why you ALWAYS want to turn-off your undertank fuel valve if you are not going to be using your tractor for a while.

YES, that missing filter will suck dust up into your engine and wear the piston rings. NOT GOOD.

I have seen several different "fixxes" for the missing drain filter and they all endup permanently sealing the drainhole. Drill and tap a screw. Lead-ball carb seal. Aluminum rivet. Copper rivet. I even saw a leather knot rivet. Some plastic stretch-titt seals leftover from other carb rebuild kits.

Use your imagination, it just has to be dusttite and not desolvable in gas or it will fall out again..... ....Dell
