Can someone tell me what the lift capabilities of the hydraulic lift should be? How many lbs should a lift in decent shape be able to handle? I have purchased some impliments and some are pretty heavy. Not sure if the old girl can handle them.

A lot depends on where you're lifting the load. I've used a boom to move some pretty big rocks. If I started with the boom all the way down then the load exceeded the front end weight of the 8N. However, if I started lifting the same rock with the boom part way up, I had no problem. The closer the tool's center of gravity is to the back of the tractor the more you'll be able to lift. Keep another thing in mind, lifting the implement is one thing, doing something with it is another. You might be able to lift a 1000 lb rock but be careful driving up hill with it. My comfort level is probably 5-600 lbs.

John Smith who has the Ford 8n web site told me that about 850 pounds was the weight lift load on an 8n.

900 to 1200 lbs on the average. More than the front end of the tractor will hold down with out extra weight. Mark H.
