I use the Ford recommended 134d hydraulic oil.

Some folks (especially in hotter climates) like to use a 90 weight oil that is classified as GL-1. It is important not to use other 'GL' ratings as some additives are not compatable with the bronze parts inside the tractor. Or so it is said.

RB has it right but one word of caution. After about four gallons start checking the dipstick. After all these years the residue in the bottom can add up to quite a bit.

If you overfill you risk having the rear axle seals leak and ruin the brake shoes.

5 gal MC 134D spec. ford Oil is current recommendation by Ford. You can obtain from your Ford-New Holland dealer, and most auto parts stores. Be sure it meets these specs.
For originality, if you can find it, Straight mineral oil, SAE class GL1, can be used and is probably better in worn systems. Do not use other oils classed GL3, GL5, etc. as they have additives that are not compatible with your system. You can sometimes find this oil at Advance Auto, Tractor Supply, Wallmart, etc.
Fill by the gear shifter, drain by three drains, small one under differential first, then large one on hyd. pump, and finally large one one trans.
Hope this helps.
