Our son just called asking if I'd help him Christmas Day (can you imagine! Hey, he's a great son and was half kidding.) dissemble his Jubilee's left axle and hub. While plowing tonite the axle began slipping in its hub. I've read all the posts concerning this axle problem and understand it is the better part of wisdom to replace both the hub and the axle. My question: is this a relatively easy job? Any secrets getting the old axle out? the new axle in? The two parts are available at this site's store. Thank you.

I too have changed my Axle and Hub. I broke the Big nut loose while the Tire was on the Ground then Broke the Small nuts loose that hold the wheel on and Jacked it up Just enough to wiggle the tire off. ( I think this is the hardest part when working alone.) Be careful you may have fluid in the tires.

Just watch the way you take things apart and be careful.

I replaced the all seals and the bearing too. When putting the Big Nut back on, Don't be afraid of using a Cheater Pipe and Stand on it. The Torque is 450 lbs.

And when you run the tractor for a while it don't hurt to recheck the Big Nut Again.

I had to replace the axle on my Jubilee. It had so much wear, that it couldn't be tightened up. You are correct in that you should change both the axle and hub. Also remember to replace the seals. It is not that big of a job and you and your son will have some good father/son time together!
