No! That light should not be there! Take it out now and send it to me. I'll send you the pretty flat plug that is supposed to be in that hole!

If you click on this link it will take you to an ebay auction for a '61 Ford 841 that has a dash light. When you get there click on the photo of the dash and steering wheel to enlarge that photo. The dash light is just above the steering column on the dash. The other side of the dome (the side you can't see) has horizontal slits in it so the light shines out on the gauges. While you're there, go ahead and put a bid on that monster. You know you need it!

I e-mailed the seller and he called me. We had a long discussion about Fords and he said that he once was a regular on this site known as 9N'er. I then looked up his 9N in the photo gallery and after talking with him he seems to like to do good work on the old Ford's. There was a lot of flap on the Ford discussion board over this tractor. What do you think? Is the chrome bezel oil guage hideous and knock the value down on the Elenco? I don't think so. Someone to degrade good work over a red throttle lever has missed the point. That is my 2 cents worth. Richard

Yes, the seller of the Elenco is the same guy known over here as 9N'er. His '40 9N that he restored was a real treat. This is a pic he emailed to me after finishing it.

yea i sure wish i had the cash to bid on that thing, but my 8000 just needed 500 bucks in brake parts so i dont think i will be doin that any time soon. i would love to get my hands on one of those lights, not so much for our jubilee but to see if it would be possible to make reproductions since it seems every other week someone is lookin for one, seems like a relatively simple cup shape that could be drawn in a few steps on a simple dieset

No. It was an add on accessory. I image they came from the factory with the plug in them, and the dealer installed the light.
