To change my system to 12 volt what all do I must change. I know the altinator and coil must be changed and the voltage regulator is in the altinator I think. There is also some resistor and not sure what that is? Do i need to install a 12 volt starter and battery, and 12 volt lights?

Go visit the wiring diagrams page at the www.nseries.com web site. The top diagram shows how the 9N was wired by the factory while the "12v Conversion" diagram does a good job of showing what you want to have.

You can reuse the existing 6v coil by keeping the existing resistor on the terminal block in the circuit and adding another to drop from 12v to 6v. Or you can replace the terminal block resistor with a new resistor of the correct value. Either way, you want to see something between 2.5v and 4v at the top of the coil with the points closed, the ignition switch on and the tractor not running.

The 12v conversion drawing shows a 12v coil with an internal resistor. Not many 12v coils for the 9N are up to running at full battery voltage so you'll probably still want to use a resistor to drop a few volts. My conversion has a 6v coil and has lasted several years (the 6v coil and resistor method seems to work fine).

You don't need to change the coil. That's why to resistor is used, to protect the coil from hi voltage burnout.
You use the same starter and starter solenoid. The 6volt is actually much heavier than the 12 volt would be and will last almost forever on 12 volt.
Yes you need a 12volt battery and 12 volt lights.
