It used to be that I would lose weight just sleeping. I mean, my metabolism was constantly working and on the go. But over the past 15 years, my once fast churning and hyper elevated metabolism has been winding down and so I went in for a physical on Monday.

At 6-4 I thought I looked good. You know, one lean and mean machine with a larger belly (like a N-Series) and waste size...Or so I thought. But the height/weight chart says I'm entering into the obese category. Who would have guessed that 245 pounds on a 6'-4" frame would be in the obese range, but that's what the Doc is saying. So, I need to lose 40 some pounds.

Here's my plan. Diet.

I need to diet and do it in a way where I don't lose my energy and run myself down.

So, if I start with short and fat beer cans like Molson's or Leinenkugels, and work my way to the taller and slimmer long neck bottles by the end of the month my liquid diet should do wonders. Taller and slimmer bottles should make me taller and slimmer too. These short and fat cans just aren't doing it anymore.

I can't wait to get started. it's 3AM and it's time to crack one open and do some fan curve calculations for for the squirell cage blower.

I'll keep you posted on my progress. I figure, just carrying the glass recycleables to the town dump should earn me some weight watcher points too.

(all in fun...just getting used to the idea that I need to make some changes)

The doctors are pretty quick to use the term obese.

My dad (aged 54) was told he was obese last summer. He's 5'10", built like brick outhouse, and weighs about 195.

I'm 34 and my doctor told me I was overweight (not obese yet, just overweight). I'm just over 6' 1" and weigh 190lb. My doctor is about 5'9" and must weigh 225. (No comment)

What I can't figure out is what they call the people that are actually obese.

every time I tell myself "I'm going on a diet", I get hungry. Must be the power of suggestion or something. Ron

You guys are approaching this all wrong. That's not a beer bell. That's a liquified grain storage facility.

Been there ,done that!!!!

After I quit smokeing (Over a year now) I gained some "20-25lbs", I've been on a real good low fat diet that you can lose up to 4-5 lbs a week, it's a good diet with a good eating plan, I've lost about 40lbs. I kind'a got side tracked with the hoildays but I'm back on track now.

later,dave

There goes your image!! Seriously, what dave#1 forgot to tell you he was working out as well.

Last May I went to the Dr. and found out I was diabetic. I am 54 and overweight, active, but do not exercise. A receipe for diabetes (which I found out later). Now, through exercise (I walk 1/2 hour a day at least 6 days a week), watch carbs (which turn to sugar), reasonably low fat I have lost 55 #. I got side tracked as well over the last couple months on the weight loss, but blood sugar has been okay.

Moral-If you are over 40 or 45 and are overweight, better start thinking about some lifestyle changes before you have to make them.

Can't wait to see the new dave#1!!

I am also diabetic and about 100 lbs over the limit and only 5' 6" (should be 7'6" according to the charts HI HI HI) also 62 years young at heart, but I also have a couple of bad knees that prevent me from a lots of walking. I have thought of joining the YMCA to get some swimming exersize to take the load of of them knees.

BOY it tough to lose weight and love to eat!!!!

I did lose 90 lbs about 10 years ago, but gained it all back.

To make this a little tractor related, it would be much easier to get on the "N" without this extra weight since it has a Dearborn loader on it.

PS: I have a set of drawing I have made up to build a new FELs with step through construction fer the "N". I will have to find them (I have move since I drew them up) and with my sons help we will try to post them so I can get some feedback about their construction.

As any good 9N owner; I built a shed over my tools and equipment to keep them from getting rusty...

At least that is what I like to think... where did I leave that beer???
