Yes, I know about drawbar locks and swinging drawbar assemblies (Don B has 'em), but I'm cheap/frugal.

So I did this.

I put a ball hitch in the middle hole of my 11 hole drawbar. I hitched my 4X8 trailer to the ball To keep the drawbar from rotating I took the double nuckle toplink thingy (what's that called?) and put it on the draw bar with a 1/2" pillar pin and a linchpin.

I disengaged the lift/pto.

Everything's level.
It seems to be stable, with no undue strain on any parts.

IS IT SAFE ?

I use the same set-up, but with a "drawbar lock" ($20 at FNH) to keep the drawbar from rotating.

I move my 20" bayboat and a utility trailer with building materials in it with my tractor. No problems as long as you don't overload the drawbar. Don't want her rollin' over on ya.

won't the hitch rear up when backing up, or if you have more weight at the back of the trailor. gene

If I understood his description correctly, the 11-hole drawbar can not rise or fall because the toplink is securing it...

Dunno...but my guess is pretty safe as long as you do not overload that trailer behind the rear wheels, push in the clutch on a steep hill, and have a flat in the front all at the same time...

I admire the ingenuity and doubt not that if a 1950's poor dirt farmer had thought of it, they would have done it too...

BG of course put it way more succintly...
