Hi folks; I am trying to help a neighbour out by replacing the top plate/lift arms etc on his Ford What I thought would be a straight forward job hasn't. Upon removal of the cover and linkage I found "extra parts" down in the hydraulic pump area. I took the pump out of the case for further inspection.. It appears that the control valve has come apart but I don't think I have all the parts. The I&T manual that I have isn't really clear to me in this area. Anyone have a good exploded view of this pump the can send me? I would return the favour by way of JD info (my area of "expertise" ) thanks Bob

Thanks for the info people... I also thought that all these pumps were the same, but then I didn't know what model tractor I was working on at the start either. Working on more diagrams from local dealer who has already warned me about availability limitations on some parts. I may be back soon,Bob

If you didn't disconnect the control rods from the T on the control valve you broke the control valve stem. There should be a stem with the T on one end and a mushroom shape on the other. There is also a spring in the control valve assembly.
Usually half of the stem will end up in the pump housing after it is broken. I have brazed them back together several times in the past and never had any problems with them later.

Control valve doesn't have many parts. The tube that slides in & out of the pump and a springy "T" shaped handle with ball ends that connects to the linkage. It may be relief valve parts also.

Sorry my exploded view is of the 8N pump, I only have pictures of the 9N & 2N pumps together. Mark H.

Mark,
Pardon me for being stupid, as I have not opened up the 8N yet. Are not the pumps the same, except for the means the upper lift is attached, i.e. one arm on the 8N versus the 2 arms to the t shaped plunger on the 9N/2N?

The Valve control on the 8N is a lever with one point of attachment. The 2N & 9N has a T on the end of the valve and is pulled back and forth by a bracket from the top. I will post a picture of bothe pump fronts. Mark H.

Correct, but isn't the pump itself (i.e. the pistons, valve chambers, etc) the same?
