Fordson had a locking rear end on their Super Dexta (available here in the U.S. as Ford 2000 Diesel) back in 1962. It may have been available even earlier on the smaller Dexta.

I looked at a '74 Ford 2000 that had a differential lock....small pedal on the right side. I don't know when that feature became available.

Applying the brake on the spinning wheel has the same affect. The other wheel than starts pulling.

Not realy, When you hit the brake it just transfers drive to the other wheel. When you lock the diferental both wheels drive. If you get both wheels spinning and not digging and moving, You are stuck. Don't burry you're self. How do I know this? And it takes a bigger tractor to get you out. How do I know that. I have called myself a dumb s*** a couple of times.

Dave I was doing some grading with the MF135 and snaged a rock. One tire started spinning. No problem I have a diferental loc! So I pushed in the clutch Locked it and let out the clutch and both wheels spun and dug holes so fast that they were spinning in free air with rear end sitting on the ground. Had to Lock the hubs on the truck and use Low Range to pull it out. Best part I did it by my self. Problem was I forgot to put something to stop the tractor after it got out of the hole! Had to keep driving the truck to keep it from hitting it and allmost ran out of driveway! Mark H.

Our 1975 5000 and 1980 1100 have a diferential lock. Great for added traction. But under a load it will stay locked and it will not turn with the front wheels. You have to stop and let the load off the diferential or it keeps going straight.

... including some of the imported Oriental models, have a differential lock. I've never seen one on an N or hundred series.

There is no provision for a differential lock I've ever seen on an 'N'.... but it would be a great option to have on any tractor.
