Steve..... ..what REMMo sez..... ..and.....
N's DO NOT HAVE LIVE PTO, understand? N's DO NOT HAVE LIVE HYDRAULICS, understand?

Once ya clomp yer cloddhoppers on the N's clutch pedal, everything stops moving. Its dead.

Once users understood the brillance and desirablility of the N's inovative design, they started utilizing it for many different jobs because it was all they had. Then they started complaining, no power, no hydraulics, no PTO, no traction, no steering.

And tractor manufacturers listened.

Now you have $30,000 tractors with 50 hp, live and remote hydraulics, live PTO's, 4-wheel drive, power steering for frontend loader work, shuttle trannys. Ya name it, itts out thar.

Ya pays yer moneys and get what ya wants..... Dell

Let me see if I have this right: my 541 ain't got no live PTO so why am I asking about it? But it's nice to know what someone is talking about if I ever hear it mentioned over a sasparilla sometime. Thanks to both of you. Steve

Steve..... ...I flunked mind reading, just ask my ex-wife of 32 yrs. I didn't know you were asking about your 541 offset. I responded with N model specifications and configurations.

I had to look it up. As I understand the 100 series codeing, the 5** stands for offset, the *4* stands for 4 speed tranny. The **1 stands for 134 cu/in and 31 hp WorkMaster Engine. The 541 did NOT have live PTO or live Hydraulics.

The 541 offset was introduced in 1957 with a red hood, it became a blue hooded offset 2000 in 1962 and was popular as a 1-row cultivating tractor in tobacco country. The 541-4 was a high clearance model with 38" rear tires and extended front spindles.

Its your tractor, you should know more about it than me..... ...respectfully, Dell

Simple explanation.----- --With live pto you can push the clutch down and stop the movement of the tractor without the pto stoping. REMMo.

It left off my grins! I really enjoyed your first response cause you made it clear so this city slicker could understand it. You're wrong if you think I know this tractor...I've never been on one before but thanks to the guys here I've learned a lot already and everyday creates a new question. I had broken the code on the 541 as you described and I assumed that it was like the N's without a live PTO. Many many thanks! Steve
