I just bought a 1941 Ford 9N tractor.
Every thing looks good and it runs great.
I was told by the owner before I went to look at it (buy it),there were no nown problems with the tractor.Howevery after I drove an hour and a half to look at it,There is a problem with the upper 3 point lift arm? The upper arm with the spring on it is very sloppy, if you grab it by hand and wiggle it it seems very loose like something is disconnected. The 3 point lift will not raise. You can here the pump working but there is no movement.Neither in neutral or in gear.Could there be something disconected internaly?I plan on taking off the plate under the seat.Any ideas???The owner seamed very honest also his wife .They claimed it never done this before.I took a chance and got a little better price on it ,so now Im looking for a little N HELP..
Any suggestions would be very appriciated... Thanks,Craig

I am not quite sure what part you are talking about. Unless you mean the center link with the spring? First I am assuming this is new to you so the basics are the "for the 8N" the handle on the left side down and back from the seat must be engaged, this is the PTO of/off. The PTO must be on for the 3 pt. to work. Likewise the clutch must be engaged even in neutral for it to work. Also there is a small handle under the seat to the right, it must be horizontal for lift control and vertical for draft control for plowing. The 9N does not have position control to maintain a constant height automatically as on the 8N. Although a "Zane Thang" may be added to give you this feature. Check your fluid level and the position of your controls levers.
