Am in the home stretch after replacing broken pinion gear. Many surprises have been found mostly in the bad bearing arena but while I have it down with the loader off I want to replace the leaky clutch shaft seal. I am ready to do the front split but I can't get the steering arms off at the input arms. Don't want to force anything and break/damage something else and the F-04 says "remove the arms".

Is this a "pickle-fork wedge 'em off kind of thing" or is there some other technique I should be looking at?

Thanks in advance

Bob....just loosen the nut holding the ball joint in the steering arm (after taking out cotter pin)a few turns and put a hard board behind it to take up some of the space and smack the steering arm near the joint with a four pound hammer. It'll pop right out. If it doesn't ....you aren't hitting it hard enough. L8R....Fred OH

Have you tried using a tie rod splitter on those ball joints? Another thing that works when popping them apart is two ball peen hammers. Have you tried holding one on one side of the joint and smacking the other side of it. It usually works, but it can be a little cantankerous.

Haven't gotten too agressive yet. I stopped late last night when I got to this hurdle as I figured I'd get cleaned up and read the manual before I did something stupid, again.

I'll give the suggestion a try.

Thanks a lot.
