Pulled my first set of Transmission gears from a 2N (same as a 9N) lot easier then a 8N is. Had some one ask once and read a post about it once on the board befor about a little plug on the side of the transmission case. This is the little 3/8 inch square topped plug sticking out on the Left side of the case. This plug is used to hold a pin in place for the Idler Gear shaft that this gear spins on! I was luckey I did not want the case because this plug was realy stuck in the hole! I drilled it out to remove the pin and gear! You get the gears out by removing the top 2 shifter rods (nut holding a plate on PTO side locks them in) push them towards the engine end to remove. Save the detent bearing and spring. Then you can remove the shifter forks. Unbolt the PTO, Clutch Shaft, 2-bearing caps, shove the main cluster gear group towards the back and remove the bolt on the end so the bearing will slide off, that will allow you to shift the shaft to pull the front gear off of it and out of the case. Then you can get the rest of the cluster out. The lower cluster will come out together. After I clean these parts up and take a picture of them I will post it. They are all straite gears except the clutch shaft gear which is Helical cut. I did not find a break down of the 2N, 9N transmission in the parts book so the picture will be handy. Mark H.
