I just installed a Zane Thang on my father-in-law's 2N. When I opened the box I was surprised at how little I got and began to worry a bit. I could not figure how this was going to work.

It took literally 10 minutes to install including an additional step to straighten the quadrant. We did not need to loosen the friction disk (as it was worn enough already 8^). The Zane Thang operated smoothly after installation right from the box.

Cranked up the tractor and WOW! It does work just as advertised. You still set the depth with the existing control lever and when you set the position and it stays there.

My hat is off to you Zane!

So is Zane ever gonna get his 'thangs' patented.. so we can actually discuss them without the worry of someone stealing his ideas?

I would love to see one of these.. heck.. for the realitively small amount of money he is asking.. I wouldn't mind owning one.. but this secret society, sight unseen thing is a bit unsettling...
I would at least like to see a picture of a 500 buck piece of hardware before i mail off a check.

I respect the group protecting his intelectual rights, but let me know when he's got it patented, so i can see a picture of it.

If it is fairly easy to install, that is a plus... if it is difficult to install, I need to locate a mechanic in my area that will do it for me, so far all I can tell them is that a part or parts of indeterminate size and function will need to be installed somewhere on my tractor... I get these blank looks, and they pass on the job...

I can do maintenance, oil, etc, and have r/r the generator and regulator, and the tie rod ends, etc... Don't think I would be comfterable cracking the block or the tranny unless it is really very simple.

Oh yeah, no flames please.. I get enough from my wife over having more than one tractor... hard to explain it to her why we need these machines..

Wrong device and price sound guy.
The Zane Thang is only $80 bucks.
Best money you will ever spend if you own a 9 or 2 or maybe even an 8 with position control problems.
I love my Thang, and you will too

I was actually refering to all of his 'thangs'.. as in the live thang.. for the live hydraulics, etc. Its base price is over 300, with addons that can take it in the 6-7 depending on hydraulic ports, etc.

But I believe he will be better off when he gets them protected. He will probably sell alot more of them with a picture posted to his website, rather than 3 pages of what it will do. As far as marketing go.. people are visual and most impulse buys are based on visual displays, etc.
