I want to replace the capacitor in my front-mount today, if possible. Points are good. Anyone know if I can get an equivalent at a Trac Auto and what part number it would be? Local tractor store closed down. 49 8N. Thanks in advance.

Clayton, Just curious, why are you replacing the capacitor, especially if the points show no sign of burning? I have known old mechanics who would do just the opposite, replace the points due to block wear but never change the capacitor because they figured as long as the points were not burning the capacitor was doing its job. ray

Good question. The points actually were not good, but I had a new set in my garage. I didn't have a new capacitor. No point in installing new points without a new capacitor. Being the cheapskate I am, I was looking for a capacitor without having to buy a kit.

Clayton..... ...would you believe that the partsman at Trac Auto has cross reference books and should be able to find and sell you a tune-up kit for your Ford N-Tractor. You just have to ask and insist that they are available. I doubt that they would have individual condensors for sale..... .....Dell
