Is there any way to hook the left brake and the right brake together? We live on a hillside and it's hard to hit the left brake and the clutch pedal at the same time. Do they make a bracket to hook both brakes together? Thank you, John Woolwine

You can try to adjust clutch and brakes so that the clutch pedal picks up the rt brake when depressed like the book says but..... These Fords have lousy brakes at best! And they are usually contaminated with 90 wt oil out of the axle seals too boot! I don't think Henry thought tractors needed brakes! He just slapped a 1 ton truck brake he had tooled onto these when most tractors put the brakes ahead of the differential and got the torque multiplication it provided. I am afraid you will never get enough brake to satisfy yourself!!! But try adjustment like the book says.

Read the manual carefully on the left brake and you'll see it has an interlock assembly which applies that brake when you apply the clutch. Properly adjusted, this can be a big help.

You can adjust the linkage so that the left brake is applied when you fully depress the clutch. It works, but it helps if there is no aftermarket foot rest installed and the brake is in good working order. Best to follow instructions in the manual to adjust.

One more tip: look at your clutch lever: there is an adjustable dog that can be set to apply the left brake at the bottom of the clutch pedal stroke....very handy. Not as good as a two right pedal setup (8N) but great when you are stopping big loads down a hill

There is a pawl on the clutch shaft that will engage the brake shaft. If this pawl is properly adjusted, you can engage the left brake by depressing the clutch pedal. That's the way it is on a 2N and I presume also on the 9. I seldom ever use the left brake pedal.

I have mine adjusted so the clutch engages the brake about halfway. That way it automatically disengages the parking brake when I go to put it in gear. If adjusted too tightly, I would think you would have the problem of making a sharp left hand turn whenever you stepped on the clutch, especially when roading.
