In 1995 I relined my rusty old gas tank (on my 8N) with Kreem gas tank liner. It applied well and worked well. Until now. Its been 7 years and it (the Liner)has let go and is creating quite a mess. The tank looks as though it has begun rusting under the liner and thereby causing the liner to come loose. I talked to the people at Kreem and they feel that it had held for a long time and they seem to feel it served its purpose. (Not long enough for me)
Just thought I would give you folks a update . I am going to try one of the newer epoxy type liners now available. Keep in mind that the Ford gas tanks have baffles in them that make coating them well harder to do than just a plain hollow tank.
Hope this helps some of you folks just beginning or thinking of lineing your gas tank.

Just for info. My brother-in law lined his tank with a kit from JC Whitney 15 yrs. ago and we looked at it last weekend. It is still going strong. Personally I do not like many things about JC Whitney, but I would buy this for my tank when it needs it.

Did you send your tractor gas tank to them or a different gas tank?

Do you remember what it cost?

I GAVE THEM MY EXISTING TANK. IT WAS IN GOOD SHAPE EXCEPT FOR ALL THE INTERNAL RUST. THEY DRILLED HOLES IN THE TOP TO REACH THE BAFFLED AREAS AND COMPLETLY COATED THE INSIDE. THEY ALSO COATED THE EXTERIOR WITH A BLACK TAR LIKE RUST COATING. THEY ALSO WELDED THE VENT HOLE ON TOP, SO YOU MUST USE A HIGH QUALITY VENTED GAS CAP, NOT THE LARGE FLOAT STYLED CAP FROM NEW HOLLAND. I BELIEVE I PAID $150 TO HAVE THIS PROCESS DONE, AS COMPARED TO $200 FOR A NEW TANK. MAX MERRITT AUTO SPECIALTIES IS THE LOCAL (INDIANA) SERVICE DEALER FOR RENU GAS TANK COATINGS. THIS GUY IS REAL GOOD AND IS FAMILIAR WITH THE N-SERIES TANK, BUT THERE MAY BE A CLOSER RENU DEALER NEAR YOU. PHILIP.

I've used the cleaner/prep/seal kit from Rustmotive (POR15 company). From experience on their other line of products, I would recommend them (no personal interest in company).

I think its all the same stuff regardless of with brand you use.It has to be done correct tho.You have to get the rust out first. No coating will stay on top of rust.IMHO don
