That's what the guy at the estate sale told me on Saturday. It sold for $2500 with a box scraper.

I had a chance to look it over, remembering some recent posts and John Smith's page. I concluded it was a '47-early 50 8N. Serial # was unreadable. The guy was adament that his dad bought it from the dealer in '64; therefore, it was a '64. He finally agreed that it was bought used.

Thanks to you guys here, this was one of the few redeeming moments in my weekend that was filled the onerous tasks of entertaining guests and visiting people! ha!

[the other redeeming 'moment' was framing the kids' playhouse]

When I was a Mormon missionary in Argentina in the mid 70s they were still building and selling '63 Ford Falcons. Talked to a kid today that was in Argentina about 5 years ago and he said they still are building '63 Falcons down there. Maybe your '64 N came from Chile or Bolivia!

You should have bought it. If it really was, it would be more rare than a 9N aluminun hood ;>)

I have a notarized bill of sale for a 1951 8N I bought in 1977. 23 years later, thanks to this discussion board, I learned I have a 1949 model.
Serial# 8N146928. No complaints though, it's been a fine tractor.

N's are like Winchesters, only pre-64 models are any good!
