I Have a 1950 8n that was stored in a field for 4-5 years. We have replaced the points, condensor, cap, rotor, and battery. We have 6V at the top of the coil but no spark coming out of the cap. Pulled the distr. off and rechecked the gap but still no go. Any ideas.

I would suspect timing is retarded. Check it by marking the 0 mark on the flywheel viewed thru the inspection hole on the bellhousing. Then put a timing light on #1 and see where it is. You can set the timing anywhere from 0 to 5 degrees or maybe even a little higher by rotating the distributor. I set the timing by putting the 0 mark on the flywheel on the pointer and then rotate the dist with an ohmeter on the dist wire and lock it down when the points open (meter shows no continuity). After that you should look into the dist and see if the weights are sticking. Then I would do a compression check to see if you have valve problems or head gasket leaks.

Carefully stretch the spring on the bottom of the coil a bit. The spring often will not contact the recessed screw head to conduct properly. Worked for me.

The coil could be bad on it. If you got power to the coil and the points are grounding and ungrounding the coil and the condencer is good and it is not shorted out in the dist the coil should spark. Mark H.

Yup, I had the same problem when I put mine back together. My coil that was working before the teardown must have been on the verge of going out. I tinkered and tested everything but never looked at the coil until after I had wasted an hour or so checking my wiring with an ohmmeter and voltmeter. I figured the coil was good. Then I swapped out the coil and it fired right up.
