The LIVE THANG live hydraulic unit pump is mounted between the water pump and the generator and is belt driven.

The intake oil line comes from the drain plug in the differential and enters back into the test port of the belly pump. The three point hitch is operated through the original control and relief valves.

Zane, Do you need to remove the top cover for any reason with the installation of the live thang. Is it simply bolt the pump on, slip on a new belt and plumb up the supply and output lines? Does it matter what year 8N you have, or are the pump mount brackets universal for early 8's with the gen on the right, and late 8's with the gen. on the left. I am seriously considering your live thang, and would also like to know more about it before I make the leap. Also, are parts to reapir it easily obtainable? Thanks... Keith

There are two different brackets for the N tractors. One is for the tractors made before somewhere in 1950 before the side mounted distributor and the other is for the later side mount distributor model.

Nothing has to be removed but the oil to install the system and yes you can get the parts to repair it if it should fail. The only thing that should possibly fail way down the road would be the pump and as of now they are readily available.
These pumps I use appear to be well made and so far trouble free.

can you still run the heavy oil that you normaly would in the rear, seems a bit thick to pump with a hydraulic pump
