This is what the ring gear looks like. Seems to be a bronze-like plating. The rearend is quiet during operation, has never had any internal troubles in the past, and regarding wear, seems to only show as shiny on gear contact faces. Rivets are tight and original.

This is what the pinion should look like when you pull it out. The dark color on yours looks like it has been running hot! This gear was only wiped off and is out of a 8N but they are the same. PS I do not have one for sale. Mark H.

Hey!! Looks just like mine!! was doing the same thing last night. I agree with BG on the gear though. Your pto shaft has the same wear mark as mine but not as deep as mine. Did your ring gear ever cut loose on you? Now to put them back together.
