I am rebuilding the enigine on my 1947 9n and was wondering if some of these engines had non-adjustable valves in them. I don't see anything that could possibly be used to adjust them. Is this correct or am I off my rocker on this. I have rebuilt several engines before, but no flat head engines or anything older than the 70s So maybe this was comon on old engines and I have never seen it before. When I buy the engine kit, can I replace the valves with an adjustable style? Thanks for your help.

My 47 has a 3 speed tranny. I was wondering about this because the serial number on the engine starts with a 9n, but there ar some numbers on the rear axle housing that start with 2n. The guy I bought it from called it a 9n so I have been calling it that.

3 speed and serial # beginning in 9N indicate it is a late 2N . All 9 and 2N's serial number start with 9N. 9N was 1939-'41 and 2N '42-'47. Should also have some casting dates on the rear axle trumpets
