I have a running 1939 9N ford tractor that did not make the recall. It still has the clutch and brake on the right side which as you know makes it dangerous . I would like to know from a collectors perspective it's worth .

Hi Troy, Check this site to help you get more info about your tractor. You should know that there are alot of these tractors still around. So when you ask about collectablity you need to have a very early model. Also where you are also comes into play when you ask how much it is worth. And finally with any collectable how bad the other person wants it comes into play. Another option would be to part out the tractor.

In Missouri they are worth around $1500 if the sheetmetal is not too bad. New tires would make some difference but you would be lucky to get $2000 even with them and rest in top condition. 8N's are more desireable and bring about $500 more.

What recall? Hey if it is really a '39, check for aluminum parts.. like grille, hood, dash, tranny cover, four spoke steering wheel, and so on. Also see if ya have a serial number stamped on the dash righ under the steering wheel.. or if it is in the usual place on the left side of the motor behind the oil filter but up by the head gasket area on the block. What tire size is in the rear? As far as the brake and clutch being on the same side, as you sit on the tractor, your left foot will operate both brake and clutch. Correctly adjusted, pressing the clutch far enough will also apply the brake. Right foot will only apply the right brake. 9 and 2 N tractors up untill the 8N in '48 all operated this way unless modified. They aren't particularly dangerous if maintained and operated with care.

Hey , let us know the details of what you find out and someone will be able to make an intelligent guess. Condition and location also make a great difference.

Sounds like some more misguided tractor lore.

That would be inportant to know, re. the value as a collectable. Next would be how much of it is still original. And then what is the condition.

Repost/reply with this info and maybe someone can help.
