Looking at the 48-52 front end I noticed those spindle arms are different then my 9N is. Now are all the 9N,2Ns spindle arms different or the same? There are stops on the Spindles and not on the Spindle Arms on the 8N. Are all the 9Ns and 2Ns set up with the Stops on the Arms instead of the Spindles? This stop I am talking about is the stop that keeps you from turning to far with the front wheels. There isn't a picture of the Arms that look like mind in the Master Parts Catalog or the Ford Manual the ones they use are the 8Ns front end. Thanks, Mark H.

I use what I refer to as the poor man's key. Drill
and tap a 5/16 or 3/8 hole centered on the crack
between the arm and the shaft. If you're not proud
bottom out a cap screw in the hole. If you want to
guts not being able to ever get it apart without drilling it out, use a socket set screw and fill
the rest of the hole with caulk and no one will ever know it's there.

Mark, I just went out and looked at my 46 2N and my 48 8N and they are different...Seemed to remember reading somewhere about that...The 8N style is supposed to be an improvement. \\\\Unfortunately, my 2N is not long for my garage, I will be selling it. a Friend whose pastures I have been maintaining is buying it. But the good part is that I am now a Jube owner..an early jube. just gotta find the serial no. not on the starter pad...

Tom, the Jube SN is not on the horizontal machined surface...it's actually on the vertical cast surface just below the machining. I have some pics of mine, but they're pretty high res. I can send them via email, if'n you don't mind the size. BTW...my SN is 56293

I think I would also like to get a Jubilee or 600. I should have fixed the one I had instead of parting it out. Mark H.

Do they still use the Key on the 9N spindle arm? I have one that has a little play in it and seems to move on the spindle. There is a taperd pin bolt that goes thru the 9N arm and mine is like the 9N arm you shoe. I pulled the bolt and there was a flat area on it and the other side was curved. Wasn't any wear outher wise on the bolt and it was tight and went flush when I put it back in. I quess I could pull it the rest of the way and have a look. Mark H.

There was never a key in the early 9N spindle arm. That was a fault in design. Damn thing would get out of wack sometimes. If you have the arm with the bolt on the inside, it's the early spindle w/o the keyed spindle. I have that on my '40 9N.

OK, That is the problem I have the early spindles with out the key. This may be interesting how to correct the problem. Mark H.

I wonder how many of those spindle arms were tack welded directly to the spindle? I'll bet more than you think.

I wonder if you could drill and tap a harden 1/4 inch allen screw into both spindle arm and spindle like a carter key and make it tight. Just a thought. Mark H.

Well mine was then I removed the weld! Was wondering why they did it. They stayed tight for awhile but just lately one started to move on me. I may have to put that tack weld back on it. I will try to pull it first see why it moves some and if I can fix it it will look like yours again. Mark H.
