I have purchased what appears to be a late 2N tractor in Selma,Alabama (my home town). After making a deal on the tractor a couple of months ago, I haven't been around it (and haven't had time to pick it up yet). I was not familiar with 9N & 2N tractors. As a matter of fact, I didn't even know that 2N's existed. After getting back to Lilburn, Georgia I purchased many Ford tractor books. I've had the man I purchased it from convey the serial number from the engine. Within Robert N. Pripps Ford & Fordson Tractor Buyer's Guide it states that the last serial No. was most likely 296131 (page 62). My No. is 9N 314285. Can anyone enlighten me as to what I have?

Boy, that's about the highest 2N serial number I've heard documented. I'd be curious if there are any date codes on the rear axles or anywhere else.

I agree, it's gotta be one of the very last.

I have 9N300943, and I know that roperboy has one that is around 305XXX. According to the serial number link on the left side of this page, the beginning serial number was 258704. That would have put a production run in 1947 of 55,000. Very possible. I think that the ending numbers for the 9N/2N might have been closer to 315000 which would place yours at the very last couple of days of production. That might be braggin rights....

Well, I agree that most resources list that as the last number, but you are not alone. The link below will take you to this website's tractor registry where you will see several tractors listed in your number range.

Appreciate the info.
After I pick up the 2N and verify it's data I'll post on the ledger.
