When I'm working in the yard with the tractor, there often are times where I must get down and cut, rake, shovel, etc. I find myself starting the tractor 8 or 10 times and wonder if I should just let it idle instead. What do you guys do?
JD

Ditto to Jerry's response. Last week grading the driveway. I let it idle while I picked up rocks. If I walk away for more than a few minutes, I turn it off. It's a judgement call.

My cutoff valve doesn't actually cutoff the supply.

I'm gettin a new one so I can if'n I want... but that often? I was figgerin on just turning it off when I leave it setup for weeks at a time, but not during a days workout.

Hi Jeff Hoo, As you know the fuel supply system in the N series is gravity feed. The float in the crab is suppose to shut-off the fuel when the bowl is filled. Well in my experience this float system is a weak link. Small amounts of dirt can prevent this shut-off from happening the result is a flooded carb. So to protect myself from this problem I always shut-off the fuel, let it run a few seconds and than turn the key off. I than hang the key on the throttle. This prevents me from leaving the coil on and burning my points.

I hope this helps.
