I would like to install a water temp gauge in my 2N Ford but I do not know where I can place the well at the end of the gauge. Should I put it in the top hose or the bottom hose. I would much rather put it in the bottom hose because the hood is a pain in the you know what to take off. And also do I just cut a whole in the hose and seal it with silicone or is their a more effective way of doing it. Thanks in advance for any help y'all can give me.

If you are putting it in a hose it should go in the top ahead (enigne side) of the thermostat. I have heard of people wrapping it with teflon tape and putting it along side the hose at the head outlet. Don't quite know how it wouldn't leak.

Easiest way, if you can sweat copper water pipe is to get a tee-I think 1 1/2 or 1 1/4" copper water pipe will slide inside the radiator hose. Get a tee. Cut a couple of short nipples and sweat them into the straights on the tee and leave them long enough to stick into the hose. On the tee, sweat in a reducer, a short nipple and a female 1/2" female. You can screw the bulb into it. Then cut the upper hose and clamp in the tee and you have it.

Hope that is helpful.
