I just brought this tractor home. It has been setting for several years and I am just beginning to explore it.
These Levers are under the left side of the tractor while sitting in the seat. Is the Tall vertical lever the lever for a Live PTO. I understand that there were some jubilees that had live PTO installed as a dealer option. Is this correct? and is it a rareity???

the same setup on my Jubilee but i turned the knob right below the shifter to the off position so i don`t have to lock the brakes everytime i dismount the tractor otherwise it could roll off.

I have seen in catalogs that there were two different clutches for the golden jubilee. One looked like a double clutch, and the price was about 5 times the price of a regular clutch.

Don..... ....I believe that just may be the shifter for the rare and fragile "Howard" aux tranny for rototillering. If it works, its very valueable. It slows the groundspeed of the tractor for rototillering, which is something the more common dealer installed "Sherman" aux tranny doesn't do..... ..... Dell

Yep, that's a Howard, but don't sell it short. The NAA version was a completely different design inside than the 8N Howard unit and it's a lot more durable. Apparently the Howard folks learned from their 8N experiences.

I too belive that is a live PTO set up.

Possibly one that is mechanically operated with something like a knucle in clutch pack.?????

I would describe a knuckle clutch as something like the way a pair of vice grip pliers works when you clamp it down on something.

The old John Deers all had a knuckle clutch. When you pulled the lever hard enough there was a high spot that the clutch went over and then it would stay there until you moved the lever back over this high over center point.

All these clutches have a set of fingers that can be adjusted so that when the fingers are pushed past the over center point they will stay locked there till pulled back over center and to a disengaged position again.

It is a rarity. It will be even rarer if it still works! Congratulations on a fun find. Can you post some pictures of the whole tractor?

Thanks for replying, I hope to get it running without too much effort. Should be a fun project and my first tractor, but I have done a Lawn tractor (HA HA)

Boy, she do look tired! Save that photo, you'll want to use it as a "before" shot when you get it all done.

I see you got another response on the other board saying that is NOT a live pto. I'm no expert, so I'll defer to someone else on your original question.
