I just bought a Ford 9N...do not know much about tractors but I am a Ford man so bought a Ford tractor. Would like to put a front loader on it if possible...some people say I can...some say that it would be too hard to steer. If I can do it, what type of loader can I put on and where can I find. I live in Southwest Michigan, St. Joseph - Kalamazoo area. Thank you!

Tim, the old Ns got a weak front end they just dont hold up to exta use and abuse , You might get by with light duty use , That puppy will steer to hard, had a 601 workmaster HD cousin to old N tractors , with front loader, A 1 condition , I could handle it, just to hard to steer for my 170 lb body, sold it to 250 lb neighbor who lifts weights , he likes the workout so he says, go figure .

Mike, try Bing's Farm Tractor at (616)273-8965.
He is located at 19350 E. M86 Three Rivers, Mi.
Now, in another post I talked about this loader. It is a Wagner pipe frame, climb over with a power bucket. The lift cylinders are one way, up.
The pump is there but the front mounting plate required for the tactor, the stinger shaft to the carnk pulley and the special pulley and plate are not with it. Also, the frame was extended to fit a Ford 600. It would have to be trimmed down. Minor torch work. He is asking $200.
I was in Jones Saturday for the swap meet at Boot Hill Ranch and saw it on my way home.

You'll want your rear tires to be filled with liquid. As someone mentioned, put something heavy on the 3 pt. I have a Ford WM3 Loader that came off an 8N that I have on a Ferguson TO30 that I can sell, but I'm in VA, perhaps too far for you. It has fully hydraulic bucket with front pump, etc., and works very well. Email me if you like.

Although it will not totaly over come the weight issue, you can use a counter weight to help off set the steering issue. A 55 gal drum on the 3pt filled with water would give you approx. 440lb counter weight. Beleive me it makes a BIG differance.

I've got one on my Jubliee and Yup...it'll drive like a tank, but you get used to it.

I'd keep an eye on eBay...I've seen a couple over the last few months, if memory serves.

Thanks everyone for responding. It was greatly appreciated! I think that I now have enough info. to inform the people at my workplace that "YES", you CAN put a loader on a 9N, I have the PICTURE to prove it!(thanks Paul)
