I have yet to see anyone sell a PTO shaft with an ORC built right into it. It could be internal to the tractor and also lubricated by the transmision fluid. If there is room I think this would be a good idea. Any thoughts?

I wondered the same thing, too. Alternately, if the main reason you need an ORC is for implements like a Bush Hog, why not integrate an ORC right into the implement? They already put a slip clutch on most newer Hogs. Seems they could build an ORC in there, too.
But I ofter wondered why they didn't build it into the tractor.

Mark, believe it or not, I was having similar thoughts. I thought about taking an old shaft that I have in the barn and cutting and welding an ORC into it. Probably have to figure a lube scoop even though it would be bathed in lube. It would help not having to remove it to cover the pto or to mount the plow. We would have to look at internal clearences. I can't think of any draw backs. Anyone else?
Ah, just thought of something. We would need a center shaft support. More engineering work.

All of the ORC I have seen are bigger around than the hole for the PTO shaft. So how you gonna get it inside? make it in two pieces? Would it still be strong enough? This sounds like fun

I think the ring gear is *fairly* close to the PTO shaft back in the 'boiler room'... but I like the notion!!
