I have been working on my 9N trying to get it to start. Today I was able to get it started but now the tractor is "stuck" in neutral. Every time I try to put it in gear it grinds. I feel more pressure on the clutch pedal than I remember it having the last time it moved under its own power. Thanks for any advice you may have.

Jim

Don't know if this will work on the N's or not..but this is how I have dealt with a sticking clutch on my hot rod..
Put the sucker in gear and start it ..when and if it starts buck-jumping stomp the clutch and pop it a few times. however the N's may have a fail safe feature that may prevent this, I don't know..never had this problem

That has worked for me on my '68' race car, which I don't race NE more, just start and drive everyonce and awhile with its open headers, just to aggravate the neighbors.

Like I said I don't know N's that well and especially the torque settings, and the manual is dismal in that respect.

I will say the N's are some of the simpler engines I have worked on

I DO know autos since I've been working on them since I was 12 and I'm 54 now.

The archives are fine if you have time to sift through them and ask the right question for the search button..eVn then...you will find dead ends where the page is no longer there.
as I found out. Very aggravating, especially if you are looking for answers, not blank pages and U need to B working not punching keys

Jim..... ..sounds like your clutch disc is rusted to the flywheel and you can't disconnect the engine from the tranny with the clutch pedal. It is not uncommon for the clutch to rust tight. Most figger out some way to block the pedal down when left setting for a time. Check the archives for advice on unsticking, I don't have a favorite..... ....Dell
