Er, My 7 1/2' disc harrow that is.
I put the new NAA type hyd. piston in my 2N yesterday.
Then hooked the disc to the 3 pt. added about a 150 lb. weight besides, lifted it and left it sit all night.
It groaned a little when it had to lift it but it's been there for nearly 24 hours now and has only dropped about 2". Before you could actually see the disc dropping down when you shut it off.
I wont let it sit like this normally. Just wanted to test it.
Thanks Don B. The parts were all the right ones.

Glad you got your lift fixed ! I just fixed mine a couple of weeks ago and got my parts from Don B also . Probably could have gotten them at the local NH dealer but it was more convinient to order them online from Don B . I also knew that he would have them in stock . I ordered them on a Tuesday night and had the parts on Thursday ! Thanks Don !

I hooked up my heaviest disc and the lift did not drop after sitting for 2 days ! I have 2 discs . 1 is a Leinbach 2 row 12 disc it does a really good job particulary smoothing ( i also pull a drag behind it ) and has sealed bearings . It was about $ 425 .

My other disc is a 2 row Ford disc that came with my Ferguson 30 . It is very heavy and is great for rough discing . You can also fold the back sections onto the front to make a bog harrow out of it . Unfortunately , it is really too heavy for the 2N . I can pick it up just fine but it will take the front wheels off the ground if I hit a bump ! I once changed a front tire by lifting the disc and sitting on the frame to raise up the front wheel .

I been thinking about getting a disc harrow, Is yours a single or tandem? If single does it do a good job of breaking the sod? What is a good price for one of these? Just curious. Play safe.

I've been keeping an eye out for a disc since early last summer. Reading a lot of ads both on the internet, in several newspapers, auctions etc.
When you can find one they seem to go very high.
Like at least Twice what you'd pay for a good 2-14" Dearborn plow. And more yet if it is a Dearborn Brand.
There was a post on this board just a couple of days ago and a guy paid $500 for a New 5' disc
from somewhere like TSC.
I bought two older 3 pt. discs this spring, sold one and put the $ into this one. All new bearings
were $150. Plus a lot of monkeying around. But then we don't count our labor on this stuff do we?
I have about $275 into this one.
I have the disc wiper/cleaners (or whatever they're called) for it too just didn't get the bolts to put them on yet.
This disc is a Farm Tools Inc. brand. I'd guess built in the 50's
Good Luck
Jerry

My dad had a similar old disc. It had angle iron (frame) on the back gang to throw concrete blocks in so you could get the pans deeper in hard ground. We pulled it with a F-20 and some with the N. We also had a Ferguson pick up disc but it seemed we couldn't keep the front gang in the ground good enough. Used it on gardens ok.
