I pulled the tractor out after not using it for a few years. The only way it will run is with the choke pulled out. It idles fine, the only time it leans out is under load or with the throttle 1/2 open or more. I took the carburator apart and cleaned it but it did not help. If I back out the mixture screw it helps but it is still too lean. The fuel line to the carb is new. The ignition system is new also. Do I need a lager jet in the main metering curcuit or could my problem be elsewhere?

Brad..... ....I wouldn't support your seeming willingness to re-jet your carb without knowing that you didn't swap jets while you recleaned your carb. You're probably not going to like it, but from the information you've provided, I'd say you didn't get all the little ol'jets passageways in the carb cleaned out. Soaking in carb cleaner or spraying carb cleaner doesn't always do it. Gas over several years time will jell and clog your fine passageways. I use a nylon coated steelhead fishing leader to prob all the passageways..... .....Dell

Did you clean out the screen inside the inlet of the carb. It's located inside the carb where the gas line from the tank connects to the carb. Check it out! Good luck. Ron

Could you use a mackerel leader or maybe a walleye leader? ;^)
