Has anyone tried refilling their printer cartridges instead of buying a new cartridge? If so, how do you like it?
TIA
DonCO

I have filled several catridges with great results!! The money saved definitely makes it worth doing.

I bought refill kits for my lexmark and my hp photo printer. So far no complaints, made a little mess when I first tried to reink the lexmark, but so far everything seems to print okay. One of the cartridges had dried a little so I set it in a small amount of alcohol and that seems to free it okay. But I think refilling more than twice and the print quality would go way down.

Tried a refill once. Instructions said to refill promptly before it dries out. Yellow had been dry for a couple of weeks and it never would feed the new ink. For $12 vs $28 I'll try again though.

I've filled mine a few times and it works okay, after filling a few times though the head of the cartiridge wears and leaves poor quality,so my theory is fill them twice and throw them away after. One thing I did try twice and wouldn't try again is to have them filled by a company doing it for living. I did that twice for less than half of the price of a new cartridge but they must not use my orginal cartiridge I sent them because again the head is worn and gives poor quality. Stan

The wife bought a color cartridge and a black cartridge for our printer on E-bay and we saved about half of what Wal-Mart was asking. My daughter in college has the printer now and the cartridges have been in it for about 6 months. We just got a new printer about 2 months ago and the cartridges are already used up, so we will probably get them from the same person on ebay if I can locate him. By the way, these were reconditioned cartriges.

I've never tried it myself and that's because I work with a couple of computer guru's who say it's just a gimmick. It's more trouble than it's worth. A lot quicker and easier to have a spare cartridge on hand. But then that's their opinion, i'm sure there will be others.
