I am prepping my 2N for paint. My original headlights are beat up badly so I wont be putting them back on. (for now, until I can afford an original pair)
The sheetmetal on the side panels are bulging where the headlights were attached. Looks like it could be that way originally? If I were to guess, I would say the sides should be flat and smooth where the lights attach? Perhaps you can set me straight? I am tempted to press the bulges flat with my press but want to make sure first.
Flat or bulged??
Thanks.

Tom..... ..original hood doglegs are "flat". The cantleavered weight of the headlights can cause "bulging" and probably metal fatigue. Cure on re-installation is use a backup plate inside the dogleg to spread the stress.

Don't know if'n you're 2N's headlights had the "wings". These are also suppost to add metal strength. But understand they were "hollow" and you could actually suck yer hollow light bolt into the hollow wing. Just an observation. ..... ..Dell

Thanks Dell,
That brings up another question.....
I have one light bolt, the hollow bolt, just spins and I cant seem to remove it.
Any ideas? I have tried WD40 and impact wrench.
The lights "were" the winged variety.

Tom..... ...sometimes there is no "eazy cure" for bolts that loose their lock. Sometimes a "nut splitter", sometimes a "longnose" vicegrip, sometimes the ONLY CURE is a hacksaw blade..... ...Dell
