I have a 2n that has 45-60 compression. blasted off all the grime collected through the years and noticed it has a cracked block thats been welded. Never noticed water in oil or oil in water. Have had the tractor for over 40 years. wanted to know if it was worth rebuilding.Hate to get rid of it almost like the family dog.any thoughts ,gary

You might want to spend 10.00 and have it magnafluxed to see if there are any other cracks. Or better yet, do a pressure test. I have a 9N block with a welded crack that bcause of low compression I too deceided to rebuild. To my surprise I found 3 other cracks and 2 of them made me deceide to get another block! My 2 cents worth.

If you had the tractor for 40 years and just found it had a cracked block that was welded why would you worry about it now? I would not hesitate to rebuild it. Evidently somebody welded right.
