I looked at a funk conversion yesterday, I couldn;t find Funk embossed on the front, might have missed it at the starter, apperared to be a steel pan, it had channel iron mounts, it was a nice tractor, not show but real nice, he wanted 5,000 for it,also no govenor on it , said it was a 52 8N, I thought all funks came with a gov. I searched the funks on this board and found a photo of the embossed funk near the starter as the only sure way to tell, Mulling over buying it if he still has it, any coments would be appreciated on valu or if this is a funk, if it isn't a funk it was well done looked factory Steve

Could it be a Glover conversion? Heard they look nearly identical to a Funk and were sold in the Indiana and Illinois region. Once inquired about one for sale and the guy said it was a Glover. Looked like a Funk from the pictures he sent. Anybody know anything about Glovers?

Funk has become generic like Band-Aid and Kleenex. It most likely is not a factory Funk Brothers conversion if it's missing the Funk cowling and other ID parts. What type of engine does it have? Does it look like it's been converted for a while? The Stauffer kit(if that's what this is)costs over $800, plus the cost of the engine and all the other goodies, plus labor. There are plenty of home-made conversions that didn't use the Stauffer kit. If this machine performs well and looks good and you're looking a conversion just for the thrill of it, then the price doesn't seem too bad. There was a guy in NC asking $6000 for a 6-cylinder conversion, but he didn't say it was a factory Funk. He said it was an "original" 6-cyl, whatever that means....Howsomever, if you're wanting a genuine, collectible factory-made Funk, this may require a little more caution and investigation on your part. If you could post a picture maybe the board could help?

it was well made, looked good, it had pitting on the front mount and painted over so it had to be done quite a while, started right off in 20 degree weather, the guy had several tractors for sale, some just beautiful, seems like a honest guy. I just didn't want to over pay and if its not a funk and I wanted to sell it later I wouldn't tell some one it was a funk if it isn't, couldn't sleep at night lying to make a dollar more. OH it had a cast cowling where the hood joined the dash but no marking
