I was reading a post last week about someones exhaust leak. "Jim" Posted a reply suggesting to use liquid metal to fill in a low spot on the block. My question is, is this called liquid metal, or Liquid Steel, and made by Permatex, or would it be something else. I called my NAPA dealer today and all he knew of was Liquid Steel made by Permatex. It is a one part epoxy type of stuff and comes in a tube about the size of silicone gasket sealer. Thanks in advance!!
Dave

Dave, Just don't get JB Weld it's too hard to get mixed right. Some welding shops have some good stuff that will stand 1000 degrees. Can't recall the name at the moment, but any one part (liquid steel) is good.

Just wanted to say I've used almost my weight in JBWeld at almost all temps and have had no trouble getting it "mixed right". I swear by it. You can sand, file, drill tap etc after 8 hrs if you are careful and just go for it after 24 hrs. I haven't tried the "fast" JBWeld yet but have been told it is very good also. FWIW

If permatex makes it it should be good. I think it's liquid steel.
