Has anyone had any experience with gas tank liner that is put into tank as a liquid. Am restoring a 2N and have some small pin holes in bottom of tank.

Kenneth,

I purchased the Kreme product through JCWhitney's last summer (just over $40). I have a spot weld crack in the right front support rail of my 53 NAA gas tank.

It was a painful process, but it worked. Until it froze, and then it started leaking again. This stuff is generally not recommended for large tanks because it is difficult to spread evenly. It took my tank about a week to dry (it would have been faster it I had used a blower).

If you save (if it is possible!) the drying agent, it is possible to redisolve the elastomere and reseal the tank. This stuff is not an epoxy.

I haven't decided what to do yet. New tanks are $265.

Tom

Kreme is what we use around here for Motorcycles and outboards. It is a little work but gives good results.

Kenneth, I used a similar product on my Jubilee gas tank shortly after I purchased the tractor. Bought it from a motorcycle shop. I believe it was called Creme or something like that. You had to remove the tank and clean it out real good. Then treat the tank with a special etching solution, then a neutralizer and finally the epoxy type coating itself. It wasn't cheap but it was less than the cost of a new tank. It has worked really well now for almost 3 years.

Somewhere in the archives the fellows were talking about a product available at Harley Davidson motorcycle shops for sealing gas tanks.
Sorry that I don't remember the writer within the past week. Try page 3.
